The Mall, Ealing

The high-rise residential redevelopment of the site extending back from the historic frontage of the Mall to the boundary with the railway. The site, which was completely covered by building, had fallen into poor repair following occupation by several unsuccessful businesses. Planning permission was granted for comprehensive redevelopment including:

  • A full basement
  • Conversion and part reconstruction of the front terrace,
  • Construction of a nine-storey apartment block at the rear of the site.

Building construction consists of in-situ concrete frame with traditional cavity brickwork facade detailing and standing seam zinc roof claddings. Site access for construction was extremely limited with health and safety considerations, further complicated by the railway to the rear, underpinning to both neighbours, and the busy Mall High Street.
